So you built a new blog , set up a Facebook page and started tweeting and STILL you’ve got virtually no friends? You’re not alone. It used to be that a tweet would be noticed by your friends and shared fairly quickly. That was before there were 90 million tweets per day and 60 million Facebook status updates a day. Nowadays I’d say the shelf-life of a tweet is more like 2 minutes.

I’m a big fan of open source and as a woman who mangles a line of code here and there, I’m constantly amazed when I see how few women there are working in the field. Now, this is not one of those boo-hoo posts (you guys are MEAN!) about poor down-trodden women getting short shrift. That’s not really my style. Instead it’s a celebration of some very cool women who work in open source right now and an invitation to you who might be thinking about working on an open source p
