Social media was still being called Web 2.0, I got into it three years ago when I was handed a magazine article and given the ultimatum of figuring it out. At the time, I was content with public relations. but in our weekly PR team meeting, social media nearly hit me in the head.

Enter the Facebook revolving door: When my team took over Facebook from the SEO/Web 2.0 Despite the situation escalating quickly, the lesson was one that would be valuable as social is about the people, not a corporate messaging agenda. It also taught me to ask for forgiveness as opposed to permission.
