Netvibes is a the modern version of the "portals" of the dot-com era, but this time, they can be completely custom and individual to each user. It is a service that allows users to set up their own customized start page composed of "modules" which can contain a wide variety of information from dozens and dozens of other sites.

This post is recast from an assignment I completed about four months ago in a Masters Degree course entitled Innovative Practice and Emerging ICT , in which I investigated what PLEs are meant to be and where they might be going.

Just define your feed using the "Fetch Feed" module, connect it to a "Filter" module, which can filter either in or out by title, description, category, author, or date, and then connect it out to the Pipe Output. I use netvibes personally. A watch contains a group of related keywords. FeedBurner provides no filtering?
