On the other hand, Whole Foods CEO really crossed the line by posting on stock message boards under an alias name , attempting to influence the stock price of an acquisition. There’s an example here.

The effective practice of social media marketing requires monitoring all channels, from online cruise message boards to social networking sites like Facebook or LinkedIn. I have seen these programs work but I sometimes wonder if it’s worth all the effort considering the possible fall-out, as seen in your example.
