Sector wise trends : If we look at vertical searches, all is not lost for Google as they continue to rise in Automotive, Shopping and travel verticals. Google’s percentage of upstream traffic grew for the Automotive, Shopping and Travel categories. Whereas, for February 2010, it stood at 70.95%.

Finally, we received a reply from their India director that he was in-charge of key issues and was himself traveling out of India. Lastly, a couple of our customer portals went down. Alas we had to threaten them of dire consequences and send numerous emails.

Assuming, a car-owner travels from Rohini to Gurgaon everyday, with a bit of route-diversion he could end up traveling about 65kms which means that he has to effectively charge his car overnight to ensure that is charged fully. Quite interestingly it takes only two and half hours to charge the car to 80%.

I think it would make some sense if the drivers can understand the purpose of these websites like mapmyindia, routeguru and even burrp.com by helping the travellers to connect their real needs with these city-centric portals. Coming back to the news story, at this stage all one can say is that it looks interesting.
