I offered a model of an environment with six channels for: authoring, syndicating information, communication, collaboration and networking, researching, and evaluation. Several advanced students (2-3 from each group) participated in this experiment. I still need to work on linking to other social networks and to openID.

I have actually heard this exact sentiment from several companies and agencies recently, wondering whether they should increase their Facebook efforts because the size of the member community is just so overwhelming. If your community is there, then you should be too, and the question is really rhetorical, isn’t it?

Track things like audience/community sentiment (positive/negative) if you want to map effort to results. Pay attention to which widgets you use in your sidebar. Get a Wordpress.com account for its OpenID benefits. Use social networks respectfully to share the best of your content, in a community-appropriate setting.
