A good way to investigate this is to review the Crawl Errors report in Google Webmaster Tools, which shows URLs with 404, 500 and other errors that Google encountered while crawling the site. So maintain a decent selection of feeds and don’t let the impending shutdown of Google Reader move you away from RSS.
