I scan 275 RSS feeds in Google Reader and I use dozens of bookmarklets and shortcuts to help me manage it all. We are now developing an open source "business application platform" (think salesforce.com). Our first application is working tightly integrated with GOOGLE APPS. Using Gmail as a Massive Database. never send them.

Not only is a minimalist desktop fast to load and nice to look at, it also keeps you in a simple frame of mind for when you are working on other applications.
