GLS Update: Americans are not checking in

Our good friends at the Pew Internet and American Life Project have found that, while your personal newsfeed may be flooded with check-ins and friends adding locations to their statuses, most Americans are not revealing their locals. To be specific, only 28 percent of mobile phone users in the U.S. are using the services. Furthermore, five percent of cell owners use their phones to check in to locations using geosocial services (like Foursquare or Gowalla ).
