I like to use Google Trends which gives me an idea of whether an industry is becoming more popular online or if it’s declining. In fact, I used a Sony Vaio laptop that had no hard drive (really), ran from a Xubuntu Live CD, and every time it booted up I would be presented with a brand new operating system. No problem.

The internet is an industry I absolutely love working in, but it’s also a workplace that has the most distractions. As an alternative, trying using the shortcut keys (Right click on a bookmarklet >> Properties) which, when pressed after CTRL+L (CMD + L on Mac), will load a specific website. Does that help?

In order to get mentions on other blogs then you need to be focusing on being involved in the communities for that industry online and providing the very best content that you can. but I’m sure it would interest you more than a product in the same industry from someone you’ve never heard about.
