There are several other options, such as Flickr, Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, etc… even Ping.fm. I view Amplify as a triggering device leading into points for social distribution; which fosters social aggregation; and ultimately to social endorsement and social action. You can set up your own blog. It really is a community.
