The site was initially opened to beta testers in May 2005 and in October 2006 it was acquired by Google for $1.65bn. With Google TV as its main platform, YouTube is attempting to transition to users’ living rooms to gobble some of the five hours of TV U.S. YouTube is undergoing another major transformation.
