The same thing happened back a few years ago when Twitter hit. I can think of at least a couple of people who gave up blogging to go more heavily into Twitter. While Google+ is in some ways more like a blog than Twitter (comments, longer form content, etc.) As an added bonus, the way Google+ works, comments pop up in real time.
