How to Generate New Video Ideas

Use this strategy for coming up with video ideas…

You may know I’m publishing at least one video every day of 2023, which means I only have a few days left before I reach that goal. I won’t lie, there are times when coming up with ideas is a challenge. Organization and prioritizing a pipeline of ideas is critical.

Here’s what I do…

I keep a running list in my Notes app of ideas, and I cross them off once I script and record them. When possible, I start sketching out the script while I’m thinking about it. Otherwise, a simple title may not be enough when it’s time to get recording.

Inspiration for videos can come from client calls, questions from my community, or conversations that we have in Strategy Sessions. They come from random places and expected places, but it’s important to be ready for them when I have them.

I also use social media posts that I write, especially to Threads, as starting points for videos. I write a lot of stream-of-consciousness thoughts there which can be great topics to cover in a quick video.

The most valuable for me might be breaking up a blog post that I’ve written. An example is my 6 Priorities when Picking a Meta Ads Client post. I ended up creating four short-form videos on some of those priorities. Always repurpose when you can.

The main thing is to have a list easily accessible to record your ideas as you have them. There’s nothing more annoying than having a great idea, assuming you’ll remember it, and then completely forgetting what it was.

And, yes. This still happens to me. This is why it’s important not only to record the topic but to sketch out as much as you can while you’re inspired.

I hope that helps!
