If you are selling (or completing another transaction) online, track all traffic using a targeted URL (ex: [link] ). If you can’t do this through your site’s tracking system, you can use coupons or short URLs that tie back to social media. It may sound daunting, but is actually not that difficult.

Google owns email and search (video too)… Plus now they offer photo storage, privacy filters and RSS without having to leave one URL. At the end of the day, we can all decry Plus as a failure, but we should look beyond the + sign and more towards the word Plus.

but who owns the URL and content on the network? I am of the mindset that it isn’t. The main reason being is that social media is mostly rented real estate. Yes you control the content on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc., The network does. So if it were to go poof, so does your community.
