Twitter + Yammer? What could have been…

Danny WhatMough

I’ve been thinking a lot about Enterprise Social Networks recently, and so should you if the figures about the potential size of the market over the next few years are to be believed ($6.4bn by 2016). The news that Yammer has been acquired by Microsoft for $1.2bn therefore shouldn’t come as any surprise. Whether the same can be said for Yammer is another question. Clearly Yammer and Twitter won’t happen.

4 Reasons to Use Social Enterprise Networks for Business

Mindjumpers

Most people wrongly assume social enterprise networks are simply Facebook for business. Social enterprise platforms move conversations from someone’s inbox to the public, so management has continuous insight into the team’s progress.

Facebook: Improving Employee Communications?

Of course, this is why organizations often use platforms such as Yammer for employee engagement, creating internal or private social networks, as it were. I just find it ironic that what is currently the world’s largest social network can successfully connect strangers across the globe… but not employees of the same organization. Attenzi – A Social Business Story

The Internet is in its 40s, the Web is in its 20s, and social media (in its web manifestation) is in its teens. It’s only after decades that we’re beginning to play to digital’s unique properties, moving away for example from folders towards search and discovery, and away from email towards enterprise social networking. I think much the same can be said of social business. Attenzi – A Social Business Story is a post from: Waxing UnLyrical.

The Real Roadblock to Social Business Success

Stories about how top executives just don’t “get” social media and the concept of social business were common four or five years ago. Worse, C-level executives who don’t use social media themselves are also much less likely to understand how to capitalize on the social media savvy and reach of their employees to benefit their companies. The fundamental barrier to embracing a social business strategy seems to come down to one word: fear.
