Pleasure travel is on the outs as long as COVID-19 restrictions remain in place. That means there are millions of tourist who love getting out in the world left without any options to satisfy their “get up and go.” Also, it all leads to travel destinations relying on those tourists needing to hang on until the skies are friendly again.

To give frustrated explorers a pressure valve and to stay on people’s minds, several destinations moved to social media to remain in the global mix. The following is just a sample of online options.

MoMA – Learning Curve: To inspire art lovers and aid in home schooling, New York’s Museum of Modern Art gathered its best resources for hands-on activities and online learning opportunities.

Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa: The Forbes Five-Star oceanfront retreat in Palm Beach, Fla. launched its #PressPause Instagram campaign to celebrate the moments of joy travelers can still experience during these difficult times. Future campaign posts will feature yoga tips, guidance from the resort’s culinary and mixology team, etc.

Visit the USA All-American Armchair Adventures: “The Official Travel Site of the USA” offers GoUSA TV, a free, on-demand video-streaming service available on iOS, Android, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV and YouTube. The site serves up video explorations of popular venues and journeys.

Aqua Expeditions Online Chef Masterclass Series: A leader in luxury small-ship cruises, Aqua Expeditions now offers its first-ever online culinary masterclasses designed “to bring gastronomic magic from across Aqua's destinations to Americans isolated at home.” Award-Winning Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino kicked off the series on the Aqua Expeditions’ Facebook and Instagram pages, using Amazonian ingredients for a fresh take on modern Peruvian cuisine.

TripScout – Travel from Home: The social travel entertainment platform for “the traveler that dreams every day about their next trip,” the TripScout app opened up its Travel from Home campaign to allow its users to share recipes and photos, meet people and hear from various experts. Using the #travelfromhome hashtag in the TripScout Nation Facebook Group, a new topic is selected each day.
