Internet Retailer ranks Vistaprint 27th in highest social media impact for online retailers

Jeff Esposito

About a week or so back, I came across the Internet Retailer’s Top 500 Guide (top 500 online retailers) and was looking at the areas where Vistaprint ranked. After thumbing through the traditional marketing, I came across the publication’s inaugural list of Retailers with the highest Social Media Impact (full list below). Vistaprint ranked #27 on the Internet Retailer: Retailers with the highest Social Media Impact List in 2012.

See you later Vistaprint, best of luck

The award that I was most proud over the years was that our little team at Vistaprint (Jason Keith, Nick Gosselin and I) ranked above companies like Nike in Internet Retailer’s list of Social Media Impact. Eight years, one month and 13 days ago, I walked into Vistaprint to take on a role as an associate manager on the company’s PR team. Taking the job, I thought that it would be something that would help me transition out of the sports world and get into more of a stable PR role.

30 Social Media Stats for the C-Suite

5 percent of online shoppers note that social media influenced them to visit a retailer’s website ( Foresee ). Every month I read countless research reports and blog posts on interesting social media metrics. Instead of having them sit on my desk or in a bookmarks folder in my browser, I wanted to pass them along because social media continues to evolve at a rapid clip and it is very easy to lose sight of key metrics or research data that can help make more informed decisions.

Are you green-washing to build up your marketing database?

Jeff Esposito

My coworkers Cristina and Karen were discussing that a large retailer asked them if they wanted to be green and have their store receipt emailed over to them. You see, many of these retailers add your email to their database which also means that you are now getting email campaigns from them which to me is just spam. Unfortunately email is not the only place that retailers are using to expand their marking reach on the sly.

Offline Retail Analytics Via Smartphone

Small Business Mavericks

Euclid collects data for retail businesses using smartphone technology to track consumer movement. Here’s how it works, in a nutshell: Euclid installs sensors in retailers’ locations that can measure how many people walked by a store, how many walked in and for how long they stayed based on when their smartphones emit a kind of radar searching for wireless Internet signals. This is powerful retail technology and a very clever use of smartphones for tracking purposes.
