Twitter Users Randomly Getting Logged Out For No Reason

Following

Have you been experiencing problems with Twitter today? Is the social media platform randomly logging you out of your account? You’re not alone. Many users have reported the problem, which first started around 2:50 p.m. ET. And it only seems to be getting worse.

Down Detector, which allows users to report when a website isn’t working, has reported a flurry of outages at Twitter this afternoon. The services has gotten about 10,000 complaints of Twitter being down in the past hour or so.

Personally, I was logged out of my account around 4:30 p.m. ET and then had no problem immediately signing back in. But more recently, I was randomly logged out of my account at about 5:00 p.m. ET and haven’t been able to get access again, despite trying multiple times.

Twitter has experienced a number of outages since CEO Elon Musk first took over in October 2022, but they’ve all been relatively short. This outage appears to be longer than a typical problem with the site and it’s not clear when activity will return to normal.

While users have reported being logged out on the website, it appears many people are still able to access the site through smartphone apps on Apple and Android.

Twitter responded to a request for comment with a poop emoji, an automated response set up by Musk. I’ll update this post if I hear back with any real status updates.
