Google is personalizing search results by including more Google+ profiles, business pages, posts, and Google+ and Picasa photos in a significant new initiative called Search plus Your World. Search plus your world can’t be good news for the other social networks such as Facebook and Twitter as it prioritizes G+ content.

I recently noticed that the service has added several other social media services to its metrics, which increases its value a hundred-fold (though I’d still say it’s overly weighted toward Twitter). Among the services that Klout now tracks are: Tumblr – A blogging platform somewhat like a cross between Twitter and Blogger.

Using Google’s photo sharing service, Picasa, you can share your photos and have unlimited space to store them, increasing your ability to share through Google+. You can’t do that on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. You can easily share videos through Google+ with your YouTube account. Google+ is easy to use.

My initial, abbreviated take is that Google’s new social toy is essentially a Facebook Twitter hybrid with outstanding ease-of-use and eye-popping potential. No slaving over list creation (Twitter), or slogging through the mine field of clicks and sketchy instructions for creating your own groups (Facebook).

Find photos from Flickr or Picasa — be sure to use Creative Commons photos — or buy royalty-free stock photography, and put them in your blog posts for added impact. Also, share entire photo albums online via Twitter and Facebook. And not, say, photos of small animals pretending they’re people.
