I migrated my clients from Feedburner some time ago because the service was getting a little sketchy. I had a little over 10,000 subscribers and yesterday Feedburner was reporting that at a big fat 0. Feedburner’s support has gone *poof*. If you’re still using Feedburner it’s probably time to make a change.

You’ll want to use a service like Feedburner to make it easy for visitors to subscribe by RSS or email. The money you’ll spend will save you a lot of time and headaches. Tweak The Theme. You need to provide access to your list’s current home – mine was at Feedburner so I had to provide my Google email/password. A lot of people use it just for their newsletter so they keep a separate email option for blog post updates – usually Feedburner or Feedblitz. I find this very wise on their part.

I always think it’s better to have an out-of-the-box template that is clean vs. a “unique” design that is out of date, cluttered, or otherwise distracting from the main feature of the blog – the content. Isn’t Feedburner my mailing list? Design & Layout. Does my blog design really matter? Absolutely.
