Mastering the Art of Listening: A Blogger’s Guide to Success

My own monitoring of my niches generally happens in two ways: Subscribing to Feeds of Key Sources of Information – these days most sites have some way of subscribing to them, usually via an RSS feed. I have a folder in my feed reader for each of my main topics which contains a number of key blogs and news sites in that niche.

What you want to do is take your keywords, do some searches, and then get the RSS feed of that search sent to your Google Reader or feed reader of your choice. If you’re not using an RSS reader use Google’s, it will make your life easier. If you do, please put them in the comments.

The easiest thing to do is to setup your keywords to be delivered via RSS to the feed reader of your choice (google reader, bloglines, etc). Following in the hopes they will follow you back and buy your stuff is not a good strategy. Then the best thing to do is read the tweet and see if it even warrants you talking to them.
