Plaxo: contacts, calendar and e-cards As a social network, I think Plaxo is pretty dismal, no matter how much it tries to Face-Twit-book-terify itself. The other thing I really like about Plaxo’s offerings are its ecards. This was one of the reasons I signed up for Plaxo’s premium service some years ago.

I’d love to befriend everyone or even specify groups of friends to which I’d subscribe so that I can get updates delivered to my RSS reader (versus other updates that I would check on a more infrequent basis), though for the time being, the team has not worked that out. Google, Wikipedia and FriendFeed.

In the age of Facebook, Plaxo and LinkedIn, it is all to easy to start thinking of the network as numbers. Standard networks are collecting numbers (Facebook etc)= quantity, truly effective networks are about relationships = quality. Interesting how what is true for computer networks holds true for social networks. Lijit Search.

I typically post these on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Plaxo and soon, by video, audio and enewsletter. Don’t Tweet a few times, post one or two updates on your Facebook wall, write one blog post, record one podcast or update once or twice on LinkedIn and expect it to bear fruit. Be realistic about developing relationships.
