TUTORIAL A list of 12+ styles or author voices examples that AI can write in.
LIST OF 12 STYLES OR VOICES for Australian teachers. Are ChatGPT and the other text artificial intelligence tools too boring for you? Try a secret (or not so secret) prompt. We see the Australian poem, Waltzing Matilda, rewritten as Jane Austen, Edgar Allan Poe, Jerry Seinfeld and as a CEO.
Australian classic poem rewritten by artificial intelligence in multiple voices and styles. For schools, try a “compare and contrast” homework/session. Got weird and deleted what it wrote about Jerry Seinfeld – was heading into vaguely misogynistic? My artificial intelligence Co-Pilot course in Sydney can be found here. NOTE: I broke my wrist a few weeks ago so typing research and video editing is more fun* than usual. *not fun.

Australian WALTZING MATILDA rewritten by BING CHATGPT
So for fun I chose the Australian of Australian poems, Waltzing Matilda by Banjo Paterson (full poem) to rewrite. Here are the results:
ME: Please rewrite Waltzing Matilda in the style of Jane Austen
BING/CHATGPT That sounds like a fun challenge. Here is my attempt:
Down came a gentlewoman riding on a thoroughbred,
Up jumped the swagman and greeted her with glee,
And he said as he offered her his humble billy tea,
“Would you care to join me in waltzing Matilda, my dear?”Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda,
Would you care to join me in waltzing Matilda, my dear?
And he said as he offered her his humble billy tea,
“Would you care to join me in waltzing Matilda, my dear?”But the gentlewoman spurned his advances with disdain,
Bing AI
She said “Sir, you are too bold and too free,
I have no wish to dance with a vagabond like you,
So begone from my sight and leave me be.”
That’s Jane alrighty right there!
ME: Please rewrite Waltzing Matilda in the style of Edgar Allan Poe
CHATGPT/BING Alright, here is another attempt:
Once upon a midnight dreary, as I wandered weak and weary,
By a dismal billabong, where no living thing did throng,
There I met a swagman ghastly, pale and thin and staring past me,
And he croaked with voice so hollow, “Who’ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?”Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda,
Who’ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?
And he croaked with voice so hollow, “Who’ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?”Then I saw a sheep approaching, from the shadows slowly encroaching,
Bing ChatGPT
And the swagman seized it quickly, with a grin of fiendish glee,
And he said with eyes so burning, “This poor lamb is mine for taking,
And I’ll make it dance a waltz of death, a waltz of Matilda with me.”
Yep that’s chirpy Edgar Allan Poe bringing all the light and warmth to the Australian Outback right there!
ME: Please rewrite Waltzing matilda in the voice of Jerry Seinfeld
INTERESTINGLY ChatGPT showed me a great monologue then deleted it (see video, pause if necessary). I asked it to do it again.
CHATGPT Hmm…let’s try a different topic. Sorry about that. What else is on your mind?
ME: I liked it, please reshow waltzing matilda in the style of jerry seinfeld
CHATGPT: I’m glad you liked it. Here it is again: (but it’s different!)
What’s the deal with waltzing Matilda?
Bing ChatGPT
Who is Matilda and why is she waltzing?
Is she a person or a thing?
And why is this guy so obsessed with her?
The rest of the poem seemed to be the original so I stopped the generating/regenerating.
BONUS: write as a CEO (or any other job or demographic really)
Me: please rewrite waltzing matilda as a CEO of a sheep ranch
As the CEO of a sheep ranch, I have a lot of responsibilities,
I have to manage the finances, the staff, and the quality of the wool,
But sometimes I like to take a break and relax by the pond,
And sing a little song that goes like this:Waltzing Matilda, waltzing Matilda,
Who’ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?
And I’ll show you how to shear a sheep and make a profit,
Who’ll come a-waltzing Matilda with me?One day I saw a stranger camping on my land,
ChatGPT Bin
He had a backpack and a hat and a dirty old coat,
And he was eyeing one of my sheep with a greedy look,
And he said to me “Can I borrow your sheep for a while?”
Yep, looks like Artificial Intelligence has got late-stage capitalism down pat!
So if your reports need a bit of flare, try submitting them in the style of Shakespeare? or translated into another language? Then you’ll find out quick smart who actually reads ’em!
Transcript of List of AI voices and styles tutorial (authors)
Have you ever wondered why ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence tools seem to write in such a boring way? It could be because we’re not giving them the right prompts. They’re very creative. Whether you’re using Bing ChatGPT or straight out OpenAI ChatGPT, or some other artificial intelligence tool, most of them have voices, authors, styles, and you can say, Please rewrite this, or please write this in this style. So today, I thought I would ask Bing ChatGPT to rewrite the Australian ballad ditty poem Banjo Patterson, it’s called Waltzing Matilda, Every school child in Australia knows it. I asked the AI to rewrite Waltzing Matilda in the style of Jane Austen, in the style of Edgar Allan Poe, and in the style of Jerry Seinfeld, the American comedian. Then just for good luck, I threw in rewrite it in the style of a CEO of a sheep ranch. I don’t think they’re called CEOs. They’re probably head jackeroo or something. But anyway, ChatGPT knew what I was asking and was able to do it for me. Enjoy this tutorial.
Here we have Bing AI. I went to Microsoft Bing I went to chat. It will force you to use Microsoft Edge. I’ve not found a way around that. There might be one. But with Microsoft Edge on a Mac, M 1 Mini, bing.com, go to chat. I’m going to ask it to please rewrite Waltzing Matilda, the Australian unofficial anthem in the style of Jane Austen. I’ve already asked if it knows Waltzing Matilda, and it does. I did say it needs to be CREATIVE.
Please rewrite Waltzing Matilda in the style of… What should we do with it in the style of Edgar Alan Poe? See if we get anything different. Here is Waltzing Matilda in the style of Edgar Allen Poe.
You can pause the video to read the poetry more clearly, or you can go to LaurelPapworth.com, where I’ll copy and paste these responses in. Please rewrite Waltzing Matilda in the voice of, in the style of Jerry Seinfeld.
So, there’s this guy, right? He’s a swagman. I can’t do Jerry Seinfeld. I thought it was good actually. I’ll get him to stop now. That’s slightly different. What’s the deal with Waltzing Matilda? Who is Matilda and why is she Waltzing? Is she a person or a thing? And why is this guy so obsessed with her?
I actually don’t know Jerry Seinfeld, but I’m going to assume that’s Jerry Seinfeld. So you see, you can be creative by choosing specific people. In this case, I took a Banjo Patterson… Was Banjo Patterson, yes? Poem and had Jane Austen, Edgar Allen Poe, and Jerry Seinfeld rewrite that poem, that little song, that little ditty.
I could ask… We’ll do one more. This is your bonus one. Please rewrite, what’s in Waltzing Matilda as a CEO of a sheep ranch. That’ll be fun. So you can choose a job title. Please rewrite this as a marketing expert. Please rewrite this as a CEO. Please rewrite this as a journalist for a tabloid. Please rewrite this as a surgeon. So we got some nice capitalist stuff there. I’ll stop that now. And there you go. That’s what you can do with ChatGPT matched up with Microsoft Bing. For those of you that are using Google Chrome, you may want to try bard.google.com for their LLM, their Large Language Model, which is not chatGPT, but is in the same vein.
Thank you for joining me. Your homework is to pick a prose or poem or just some dot points. Maybe you’re running an event or a class and you want to put some dot points together. And then ask the artificial intelligence to rewrite your dot points, your poem, your prose in an author style that you like. You can also test whether the AI knows your style yet, and so ask it to write it in the style of Laurel Papworth. Maybe not Laurel Papworth. Give it your name.
If you enjoyed this, I’m running a class at the end of April in Sydney on how to use artificial intelligence for your business, for your organisation, for everything from email newsletters through to audit reports, through to executive summaries, whatever it is that you need. And we’ll be examining the prompts of image, video, text, all the different and new updated AI tools as they’re coming out. I’ll also talk you through the plugins, the addons, the APIs, and things like that, so you have a fair understanding of where this is going and how you can copilot with artificial intelligence rather than having it run over you like a steamroller. So hopefully I’ll see you at the end of April. If not, stay tuned. There’ll be more videos for you.Thank you.
