It’s particularly worrying in some areas, where companies of the size and scale of Google have effectively closed out the market, particularly in terms of RSS syndication with Feedburner and RSS reading with Google Reader. What’s happening to Feedburner? Feedburner Alternatives?

This can increase engagement and keep readers on your site longer. Let’s say I’m interested in posts about FeedBurner. Content Discoverability: When readers click on a tag, they can find all the content related to that specific topic, increasing the chances of them exploring more of your content.

Like many early stage bloggers, for months I obsessed about seeing the chiclet count on my Feedburner badge hit 1,000, only to find that it wouldn’t do much for me other than inflate my ego. Top add to that Feedburner became completely unreliable and the subscriber count fluctuated dramatically on a weekly basis.

Time on Site – Another stat that can give you a sense on whether readers are engaging with your content is to look at how long they stay on your blog. RSS Stats – If you’re using a tool like Feedburner to manage your RSS feeds you’ll have access to more useful information. What Would You Add?

Youtube is another area where you could be making a big impact, if you have some on-screen presence or know how to make engaging videos that don’t require your face to be on them. Step Four: Detach Yourself from Feedburner. There’s no reason why the logic of Google closing Reader wont apply to Feedburner.

Apparently it was hacked by some kind of redirection script that sent people who arrived from search engines including google.com (which also meant Feedburner, Gmail and Google+) to another site. I would also suggest adding these authors to a Twitter list so you can engage with them often. Do these Twitter following strategies work?

If any part of your job relates to social engagement you’d best have a good look at your numbers on some of the ranking sites and see how you’re doing before you stick your foot in your mouth and say you’re fantastic at creating an online presence.
