Facebook Launches Questions

It seems like Facebook is constantly picking up on online trends and launching new products to match user needs. Latest with Places to match location-based services like Foursquare and Gowalla. But the new feature will hardly threaten Quora’s user base.

Why aren’t there more women in open source (and what are you gonna do about it?)

Janet Fouts

I’m a big fan of open source and as a woman who mangles a line of code here and there, I’m constantly amazed when I see how few women there are working in the field. Now, this is not one of those boo-hoo posts (you guys are MEAN!) about poor down-trodden women getting short shrift. That’s not really my style. Instead it’s a celebration of some very cool women who work in open source right now and an invitation to you who might be thinking about working on an open source project, or making the choice to support open source projects and developers yourself.

This guest post is by John Burnside of When people arrive at your blog, they’ve all come from somewhere on the World Wide Web. They could have found you on a search engine, they could have known about your site already, or they could have come from any one of a million other places. This can affect the way that people react when they come to your site. Direct traffic.

Yesterday morning I went under the knife to get my shoulder repaired and am now pretty heavily medicated and will be for the next week or so.
