The difference between a friend, an acquaintance and the friends and acquaintances we have met online is blurring…Social media would seem to dictate or would assume that I’m supposed to develop or have developed these deep online, networked, connections, i.e. That I have met them. Contrary to popular belief, Facebook is NOT the largest social network on the planet. So the numbers are clear that more transactions are sent via email every day, but is email really a social network? Based on the criteria, I have no doubt that email qualifies as a social network and, therefore, blows Facebook and Twitter out of the water when it comes to users, transactions, and adoption rates.

According to Techmeme, not a single blog wrote about this news today - it was all spread via Twitter, Facebook, Buzz, and other social mediums. I'm beginning to realize the conversation is moving away from the blogosphere and into the social ecosystem. People are simply moving their conversations to more short-form conversations and into the cloud of social network ecosystems. The "Meme" has moved towards Social Networks, and perhaps that's a good thing.

Down Detector is a good tool check to see if a major network is down Personally, I find Down Detector to be a little more reliable and more expedient when it comes to reporting major issues. Sometimes, Instagram can really set you in a foul mood… If you depend on social media platforms like Instagram as your marketing platform of choice, then you know how critical dropping engagement numbers can be for your brand. Instagram is a notoriously fickle social network and they make changes and even ban accounts without any real rhyme or reason. Quality of content is critical to any social media platform and more so with Instagram.
