When it comes to social media, Facebook, Google+, and Twitter are the big three. Time decay: The newer the content, the more likely it will show up in your news feed. Like I pointed out above, if your content gets a low score, it may not even show up in the Recent News feed. So what you need to do is optimize your news feed.

It integrates with Twitter, which was the first reason I took to it. So when I post to Amplify, it posts to Twitter as well (assuming I’ve set up the sync) – and I can post to as many Twitter accounts as I like. There are several other options, such as Flickr, Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, etc… even Ping.fm.

Twitter Tweetdeck I use Tweetdeck for serious twitter sessions. I find it to be especially valuable and hassle-free for updating Twitter, Facebook, and LInkedin simultaneously. Tweetie This extremely intuitive Mac-only app is my hour-to-hour choice for Twitter. If you’re serious about Twitter, this is a great app.

Twitter Following a user and then unfollowing them before they have a chance to follow back. Consistently using your Twitter stream for nothing but self-promotion and ego. This is much more bothersome when the request comes via IM or email and not on Twitter itself. Twitter is also about real relationships.
