When the search giant revealed its attempt at social networking, the news spread through the internet like wildfire. The most obvious evidence being the upcoming changes to Picasa and Blogger: both will soon be re-branded, likely as Google Photos and Google Blogs respectively. Google IS search. Is this a smart move?

In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve written a few times about Google+, but what I haven’t done is told you why your local business should be using Google+ for social networking, marketing, and branding. With Google+’s Circle sharing feature, you can add hundreds of new people to your network with one click.

If you wanna try it out for the first time, you can go for one of the free services, but if you are a company or a brand, you should go for the selfhosted Wordpress option. You can choose and customize between different layouts can be incorporated with other Google services like Feedburner, Picasa etc.

The announcement was certainly strategically timed, with Facebook's f8 developers conference scheduled for Thursday - so strategic that Facebook itself made a few announcements early. Not Just a Social Network but Glue When Facebook was created, it began as a private network only available to individuals with.edu email addresses.
