I liked that it had the ability to search through feeds to find specific content. But little by little Twitter and Facebook have taken over the reader duties for me. I like that my online communities help surface the content that is most relevant to me and it seems to keep me up to date with news and events.

The Death of Google Reader: Did Email Kill the RSS Star?

At the same time we see other "social networks" of Google's (Youtube) hitting over a billion active users. Compared to that, Google Reader was minuscule. Many are even screaming that the death of Google Reader is the death of RSS and the beginning (or end?) of the death of "open". And for that, I'm sad.
