Look for online communities of bloggers and contribute to their conversations to begin building contacts in your focus area.

Example, I can comment on the itemperance fan page in the name of Iffort and not Daksh Sharma. You could say, this is Facebook’s method of Backlinking/Creating a blogroll. If you use this feature, you would be able to receive notifications for all the interactions made on your page. Add Featured Pages and Page Admin Profile Pics.

I have an amazing team at Twist Image that did all design and infrastructure, but the content is all me (including the updating of the Blogroll). For example, with this blog post I might tweet: "What's your blogging philosophy? I write, edit, post, moderate, etc. everything. It's visceral. I write (almost) everyday. Here's mine."

Emailing a blogger and asking them to “swap links” or “add you to their blogroll” is a thing of the past and just doesn’t work. Also, if you have previously-published examples of your work, share those, as well. The best way to get someone to link to your site is to offer them something of value in return.

I have seen plenty of blog posts and conference presentations on how to utilize Static FBML but I rarely see news sites highlighted among the examples of good usage. There are a handful of examples however that are worth pointing out. The short answer? Not so many. and found that the majority are making little or no use of Static FBML.

Checking another example, the news listing in my results for “egg recall CNN” was for NECN.com not CNN.com, although it should be noted that “CNN” appears twice in that article. So a handful of examples from one individual does not make for a comprehensive sampling.
