There are conversations we don’t see that sit behind social chat apps like Kik, WhatsApp and WeChat and Ask.fm that are 10 times worse than the conversations that we see or hear about. Maybe then the question for parents isn’t so much how do you stop it, as much it might be how can you learn how to listen to the conversation?

Barbs on the "Back Channel" that don't help move the conversation along in a win-win for the audience and speaker is a clue that you want all the candy for yourself. No @s in your Tweet stream is a sign that you 1. have few friends to play with or 2. don't know how to share treats with others.
