Yeah, I don’t really know what you’re wearing, or not, when you’re actually tweeting, but please put some clothes on that avatar. You have the default Twitter avatar or are using a photo of your dog. You talk about yourself endlessly. You don’t get that authenticity is a key component of social media success.

Leaving the default avatar in place is the kiss of death in terms of getting people to follow you. Your Twitter Profile – Be you, the real you. This means a real photo of you; not a cartoon,? your dog or a logo (unless you are tweeting on behalf of a larger company). It tells people that you’re not even trying. -

I needed to differentiate Digg from social media because they actually are part of a distinctive community (and as you know, I’m very passionate about Digg so it really did deserve its own category). I get fixated on one community and ditch the last, yet I still have my profiles on them and they usually get outdated within minutes.
