Google wants links in advertorials to be tagged with the nofollow attribute and the FTC requires full disclosure. I would like to note that those text link ads do not appear to have the “nofollow” attribute on them. So how does Google find and penalize websites who have links from advertorials?

In order for your link profile to look more natural, it’s best to have a mix of links with the nofollow attribute on them as well as links without the nofollow link attribute on them. No follow links would, actually be okay, especially if you are trying to diversify your links.

For example, if you are updating an article about a particular sport on some sports web portal it will attract the targeted audience and will not spam the web portal. We allow links in the comments, but we nofollow them so no link juice escapes. We’ll put the odd blog in our blogroll, if we even have one.
