Avoid posting links on random or affiliated websites rather nofollow the link or remove them. On one hand Link directories are an effective solution for generating quality back links but postings on insignificant directories is considered spam and should be removed at the earliest.

The Nofollow attribute was first introduced by search engines to help stop spam on the web from ranking in search results. Interestingly, the site dogobedienceshortcuts.com is relying heavily on article directories and Squidoo to give it the links it needs in order to rank highly for this profitable phrase. Gail – as far as I know most blogs are nofollow so I’m not quite sure how this can help you with SEO for the most part.
