Lets look at a few: CPC Ads – lets say we’re running mainly AdSense on our blog and that the average click is paying 5 cents. That equates to 1643 clicks on AdSense ads (note: AdSense also runs CPM ads so it’s not quite as simple as saying you need 1643 clicks… but to keep this simple lets just go with that).

Adsense, advertising, and affiliate sales looked like a pretty good way to make a living. You set up your Adsense account but you’ve only got pennies trickling in. In only six months, I got two job offers, three requests for consulting work (one for over $200 an hour), and was asked to work on three paid projects.

Contextual advertising programs like Adsense offer varying click values for different topics. Remember, Adsense is not the only revenue stream for bloggers. If you are going to use Adsense you ideally want a high paying topic. It can be worthwhile to explore medium-level click values with less competition.

AdSense – 8%. I discovered AdSense (Google’s advertising network), and started putting their ads on my blog. I learned how tweaking things in AdSense (the number of ads, their sizes, their positions, etc.) But while they bringing in revenue, I knew Google AdSense was taking a cut. sponsorship – 6%. ProBlogger events – 3%.
