AdSense – 8%. They were costing me money, and not just from me buying domain names and hosting. I discovered AdSense (Google’s advertising network), and started putting their ads on my blog. I learned how tweaking things in AdSense (the number of ads, their sizes, their positions, etc.)

They’re the biggest (open) blog advertising network that I’m aware of, though in recent years they have featured more and more sites which aren’t blogs. They sell ads which aren’t part of the BSA network, such as utilising Google Adsense in the middle of their blog. Domain Age: March 2009.

From blogs that lack even the most basic advertising to affiliate websites that reek of poor conversion testing, if an online property hasn’t been optimized, it’s never going to reach its true value at sale. Any signs of profitability—even a Google Adsense block atop your page—are a good thing for lifting your sales price.
