Way back in August 2010, the social news website Digg.com updated to version 4 – more or less sealing its doom. According to Digg’s top brass, these changes were meant to bring in more revenue to the site, giving corporations and companies more control over content and more exposure for their own content. People today are always on the look out for new and faster ways to get their news. According the 2011 State of the Media report, not only do they want to be able to find it and get it fast, they also want to contribute to, and participate in, reporting the news. One example is a company that offers temporary office space.

Nevertheless, I still see a lot of companies simply saying "Find us on Facebook" or "Follow us on Twitter" without providing a URL. Fun idea and I had a few laughs, but (see update at the end of post) Toyota really should have included the YouTube URL at the end of the ads! Make it easy for them to do so by providing the URL!
