To get a better sense of the situation I pulled StumbleUpon referral figures from 2010-2012 for a group of 47 news and content sites that we work with at Define Media Group , primarily magazine brands. For confidentially reasons I am not able to reveal the specific titles, but they are all well-known brands from major publishers.

I’m not able to reveal the specific sites or figures due to confidentially requirements but they are all well established brands. 12 sites is a very limited sampling so this survey is certainly not meant to be conclusive. Here is the YoY change for 2010 and 2011: Again the numbers look great for Reddit and not so good for Digg.
