It is simply another trending practice that all marketers would be wise to note: Interruption of any kind is increasingly irritating and unnecessary in today’s world of technology and community. And when we had our little earthquake here a few years back, phone did not work tho SMS did! Dollars and attention in the mix.

The point is that consumers now have a more potent aggregate power: someone with a problem can now reach others with the same problem faster, build a community around this shared problem easily, and mobilize lots of people behind the common cause more efficiently. Not just being talked about but be an active voice in the community.

On the other hand, Plurk is really new, and thus, Twitter wins on followers (and the fact that mobile access — via SMS — totally owns), so the Plurk discussions (for now) are at a minimum. After all, the full disclosure is that I am the community and marketing director of Mashable. You may have more than one. Great post!
