Digital Photography School in the early days, I monetized it mainly using Google AdSense and a little bit of affiliate marketing on Amazon. I started ProBlogger in 2004. 2006 was an amazing time: it was both the heyday of blogging — remember the midterm elections of 2006, ten years ago today, and remember how influenced the 2004 elections were influenced by these newfangled things called blogs and bloggers? — Solid ground? Now, in 2016, while I don’t recommend it, bloggers are pros, man!

Since 2004, when I started ProBlogger, I can see that there have been spikes of activity over those years: spikes in traffic, spikes in engagement and spike to profit as well. You can do affiliate marketing during it. We know, on average, that we make about $6 per participant in that through affiliate stuff that we do.

One of the other bigger evolutions for me was back in 2004. August 2004, we started an Olympic Games blog. I was always doing affiliate marketing. Maybe it’s time you cut back on some of your tools, too. You could be like me and be addicted to trying new things and I’m paying for that. . Then things escalated.
