Heartfelt comments, sharing a personal story, and a genuine interest in the topics I write about. But as the postings got longer, rambling, more personal, and more frequent—up to four a day in addition to emails—something had to give. I was dealing with a commenter gone rogue. Anyone who reads my blog, A Flourishing Life , knows that I take great care to respond to comments. It becomes too much.

So many times, certainly in my world, in the social media consulting world, people always say Twitter in the same sentence as Facebook, perhaps incorrectly, given the extraordinary advantage that Facebook has in usage and penetration. But it’s always Twitter and Facebook. How come Twitter is not part of that? So, it’s hard for me to say that Twitter will never get to that point in terms of penetration and market capital, whatever your metric would be, but they’re certainly doing things that are platformesque.

[Twitter] Time Management for Travel Bloggers … and Others
Twitter and Facebook are the most distracting tools ever invented. This guest post is written by Matthew Kepnes of Nomadic Matt’s Travel Site. While I hate the name, I am, to some degree, a digital nomad. spend my time traveling the world and working as I go. By that very definition, I’m a digital nomad. But unlike most other digital nomads, I don’t move to a city for a few months, live and work there. I run a travel blog so I’m constantly on the move. In fact, my life would be a lot easier if I stayed in one place. That’s why the issue of time management is so important to me.

Earlier in the week I observed a conversation between two Internet marketing bloggers on Twitter which grabbed my attention. The topic of conversation? Monetizing blogs by selling advertising directly to advertisers. Their conclusion on the topic? It’s a dead and obsolete method of making money. It was a fascinating conversation to observe. They gave some solid-sounding reasons for their conclusions, including: There’s been a decrease in the budgets that companies are putting into marketing (due to the economy). The economy: rebounding more strongly for online advertising?
