Managing your connections across Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Foursquare and the like becomes a full time job in itself. Tweet. don’t want to write another 2010 prediction type post – I’ve written a few already ! But, in the first few days of the New Year, I’m already seeing a lot of noise around a trend that I expect will grow by necessity in 2010 and beyond. As social media and social networks in particular increase in popularity, there is an increasing information overload. So services that try and combine this are going to become more and more prevalent.

[Twitter] Do these 5 ideas mean business is upside down?
Answers to your queries at work are as likely from your twitter stream etc than your colleagues. In many ways business life is upside down but upside down does not mean that you must be in a chaotic spin. The younger workers have more experience with the new marketing tools. Customers are often more knowledgable about your product than you. Personalised messages on a global scale can feel like a juxtaposition. You are assessed at the end of the year by one person, yet throughout the year potentially by each person on the web. But you know the following is also true about the above.

As stated before, employers may look through Facebook or Twitter pages in order to receive a general idea of who they’re looking to bring down. 'It’s not uncommon for employers to look at the social media pages of potential workers. After all, they want to know that the people they are looking to hire will not only be professional but won’t find themselves in trouble outside of the workplace. One can argue that this is invasive but considering the unpredictable nature of the working world, it’s understandable that very few want to take that risk. Photo Credit: Gigaom.

Social media has proven its worth as a networking tool and a means of raising brand awareness, but the future of sites like Facebook and Twitter depend on convincing brands that that it’s worthwhile to invest in advertising on their sites in addition to interacting with customers. Educating. Conversing. Measuring.
