Mashable applauded privacy controls and community standards. The Verge appreciated the network growth. PC Magazine created a FAQ. I recently joined Mastodon.

But Tweetdeck ! It doesn’t matter any more. Most social media user interfaces remind me of miniaturized strip malls. When I finally became serious about Twitter in 2010, I thought the basic homepage was so-so. It’s well thought out, sleek and Star Trekkish — part butler, part co-pilot. I navigate the twitterverse as @BookMerah.

Tools used: Twitter.com, TweetDeck. Tools used: TweetDeck. I use platforms differently and they fit into my lifestyle. As you can tell from my 150,000+ tweets, 80% are conversational, 15% are about the #CMchat hashtag, and 5% express my tomfoolery. Aaron Lee ( @AskAaronLee ). follows 153,000, followed by 478,000.

I use Hootsuite as my primary dashboard but it will be interesting to see what happens now that Twitter purchased Tweetdeck. Are there specific Twitter tools you recommend someone use, whether desktop or mobile? There are tons of useful apps out there. For people just starting out, I recommend looking into Twellow.
