Take the list and search their names, their blog title, URLs to find out how many mentions there are online. Look up the blog URL on Compete.com and/or Alexa.com to see an estimate of how much traffic they get. Do they get comments and do people share their content through social media?

I speak a lot about Google+ as a tool for business. A “vanity URL so you can direct customers to your page in print material or verbally. Post URLs here with a short comment or two. Google+ is a social network with huge potential for businesses, but it’s best value is as an individual user, not a business page.

We can also hope they will open up the API for developers so tools can be created to monitor and administrate communities remotely. I did a workaround for this too by creating a short URL [link] but sheesh. Hey, we’re doing it for them! Please, please Google, allow users beyond the big brands to create unique user names!

Upload images with just about all of the popular image and video services used with Twitter and shorten URLs with my shortener of choice. I can even muter users who are currently over tweeting and turn them back on without having to unfollow and refollow. Re-tweet from multiple accounts and sync it all with iCloud.

Frankly it’s not the most intuitive network and there aren’t a lot of tools that make the UI easier to manage. You can also use a tool like CircleCount to find relevant users and the Chrome extension Circleoscope to find more people and see how much they engage with other users (in public anyway).
