The Survey is Dead – a really interesting read here from Tom Webster on surveys and how data at times is sold and portrayed out of context. Real-Time Marketing Sucks – this is more of a fail blog than anything but worth perusing if you are in need of a laugh.

Good thing the survey has a question for that . Now I will warn you, the survey we’ve put together to gather the data needed to answer these questions might seem long, but filling it out will benefit you and your community management peers in the long run.

57% Would Not Give Up Social Media On Vacation In Exchange For A 25% Hotel Discount – man not sure how to say it, but the 57% from this survey are idiots. Spurs (which they lost) – Nothing says we’re gonna win like handing out white towels before a do or die game. Vacation is me time so social takes a siesta along with me.

Unlike many reports that focus on one network and give some interesting stats, this study takes a look at four major social groups surveying companies across four geographical regions – USA, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. One paper that I recently read was Burson-Marsteller’ s The Global Social Media Check-up 2011.

With such a small sampling of people in the survey, I am going to side with Danny Brown’s take on the survey data that the blogging world is still thriving. There was an article in Forbes that noted the Technorati state of the blogosphere that noted that social media was killing blogging.

These are all good questions that would regularly require an extensive – and possibly intrusive – survey to gain insight about. Joe comes in each Friday for pork chops, Cindy comes in on Tuesdays for rib eye and Lani comes in on Sundays for fried chicken; but collectively how much do you really know? How many men shop at your store?
