The irony is that business have meetings about how social media is a time wasting activity! 'You know the feeling. You arrive at your desk in the morning. You look at your to-do list and then your calendar… when are you going to get some work done? What excuse can you make for not getting the action points done? Are you self promoting and only allowing good comments to be posted? Where do you draw the line? When there’s a negative comment do you delete it? My suggestion is to leave it. [Social Media] The Social Element Is Everywhere
It goes something like this: "all media is social media." Media (or anything) only becomes social when there is an opportunity for those who are consuming it to react back at it with some kind of interaction. When people can speak back, the social engagement is implicit. Everything online and in the mobile space is social. media.

[Social Media] Chasing Engagement With Ads Is A Waste
As all this social stuff continues to accelerate in both adoption and advancement one would think that advertisers ought to examine their thinking. Every major and local brand is rushing into social media, Facebook Fan Pages and every social tool available. Would you spend $12.4 Billion a year on ads that no one sees? advertisers spend nearly $40 billion a year for online advertisements, but 31% of their ads are never seen. That means $12.4 billion will be wasted on U.S. online ads this year. That sounds ominous for the health of Web content. How about you?

[Social Media] The Wrong Social Predictions
As the end of the year approaches predictions about next year’s key social technology trends arrive from the pundits. It as if the “mirror on the wall” reflecting the past developments turns into “fortune telling of future developments” There are a lot of fortune tellers with different perspectives to justify their predictions and the media, both old and new, elevate these predictions and the masses stand in awe of the predictions and those that predict. [Social Media] Wasting Social Productivity
While all things social are being touted as innovative ways to “produce things&# the reality is that all things social are currently non-productive. Does the increase in hiring people with knowledge about all things social represent more production? So we must begin to ask how can we use all things social to improve productivity gains? We wonder why much of the on-line dialog about social media is about ROI. Send article as PDF.

[Social Media] Social Strategy Comes After Philosophy!
It is obvious that organizations now focusing on “social strategies&# have indeed got the “cart before the horse&#. According to a recent survey by the Internet Advertising Bureau, only a fifth of marketers in well know organizations  view social media as a core element of their marketing strategy. One reason quoted by the report is the difficulty of demonstrating return on investment, but yet everyday we’re seeing a proliferation of opinions about “social strategies&# as the core for effectively using all things social.
