[Social Media] When Mobile Eats The Internet's Lunch
For the past few years, I've made the argument for one-line of connectivity (not having separate strategies for mobile, social media and the Internet) - one strategy that deals with the connected consumer. Marketing dollars allocated to the Internet are still grossly under allocated when you compare it to consumer consumption of all media channels (percentage wise). Now, with the rapid ascent of mobile, we're busy splitting hairs on an already under-allocated media channel. media channel. social media. Marketing is changing. from the 53.9 mobile.

[Social Media] This is What Happens When You Listen and Take Action
A few days after giving a presentation on social marketing to a group of tree care professionals I received an email inquiry: "Should I maintain both a professional and personal social media presence? Over years of presenting on the topics of social marketing and networking, I had assumed that this was something that didn't need to be addressed. To my surprise, the traffic I received from Personal vs. Professional Social Media Accounts  easily topped that of others - as evidenced by the engagement score it achieved through PostRank. I assumed wrong.
[Social Media] 15 Bad Business Practices That Are Transparent
At the same time the emergence of transparency fueled by social media is a force that organizations need to be prepared to deal with. Those who have power use the power for self preservation. Self preservation can promote misrepresentation of fact from those who hide their transgression from the accountability of others. The majority of employees do not trust management’s representations of “facts” Many employee’s are fully aware of misrepresentations management makes about others but do not dare speak up for fear of retribution.
[Social Media] Changing How Markets Behave
The dynamics reveal  five reasons why the current design and definition of markets are failing:  These are as follows: The suppliers still think in terms of mass production and mass media, now called social media. Media, previously used to control the masses, is now being supplied by the masses. The web has changed how “markets” communicate. The change in communications has the potential of creating a new marketplace. marketplace fueled by buyer intentions. Intentional Changes Needed . Buy the book and help create better markets.
[Social Media] Social Shifts In Thinking
Social technology are fueling a shift in how people, organizations and society thinks. The shift is enabled by the knowledge of what drives the social dynamics of today’s economy. Every so often—every 60 years or so—a body of technology comes along and over several decades, quietly, almost unnoticeably, transforms the economy: it brings new social classes to the fore and creates a different world for business. Otherwise, any attempts to leverage the new paradigm by forcing it to fit into old methods will create social rejections and the old problems will remain. Further,
    [Social Media] Wasted Social Productivity
While all things social are being touted as innovative ways to “produce things” the reality is that all things social are currently non-productive. You might say that social is much more productive than traditional advertising and marketing methods. Does the increase in hiring people with knowledge about all things social represent more production? So we must begin to ask how can we use all things social to improve productivity gains? We wonder why much of the on-line dialog about social media is about ROI.
Here are a few posts you should not miss this week, on all kinds of top-of-mind social topics, as well as some just great reads. People like to talk about themselves, and when you’re a company who has something to sell, it’s easy to think that the more you talk about yourself (specifically on social media), the more people will see you, hear you, and want to buy from you. It doesn’t leave you with a whole lot to talk about or share in the social space, leaves no room for growth, and certainly doesn’t provide much value for your customer.  Value is not all about you.
[Social Media] Tweets I Hate - Politics Edition
Whether it’s outright lies, blatant attacks, or pure corruption, there’s something that absolutely disgusts me as a voter about how we have our civic discourse and allow our politicians and media outlets to talk to us. Still, some people use Twitter and other social media to spread divisive crap.
