It’s a domain now domineered by the art of e-mail, social media and extensive search marketing. In 2011, the age of social media, this traditional concept is susceptible to becoming another victim of the digital revolution. This not only started putting more local businesses on the social media spectrum but also soon gave birth to Facebook ‘Deals’. It was not so long ago when customer loyalty was measured with a stamp on a piece of card, with the customer usually being rewarded a free coffee or similar product. With more and more people owning smartphones that boast geo-locating features, it was only a matter of time before someone took advantage of this.

[Social Media] When Humor Isn't Funny
When a brand or a cause attempts to use humor - especially in the age of social media, where information, rumors and outrage fly fast and furious - it has to be used carefully. Often times, we use humor to find common ground. An observational comic can take the everyday mundane things and makes make them seem funny with a unique spin. Or slapstick teams use physical gaffes to go for the primeval notion that when someone else gets hurt, we laugh. Comedy on the heels of tragedy helps forge a bond for those who have suffered together, in an effort to pull them through. Not so much.
