While there’s still a place for Yelp in my heart, I’ve found lately that I much prefer using Twitter and Foursquare to find new places and things to do here in Boston. While I give Yelp big props for SEO (it’s almost always a top-five result when I search for a restaurant or other venue), I just don’t really need it anymore.

Are you in a blogging rut?

As I’ve been going through the list of people I follow on Twitter looking to see who has blogs that I should be following I couldn’t help but notice a trend: people were neglecting their blogs. My posts are sporadic, and the SEO is MIA. I am guilty as charged. I am a reluctant blogger. Writers love to write.

Shortly into my tenure, my then VP Manya Chait tossed a Businessweek at me with an article entitled Beyond Blogs and asked me to figure out this new thing that wowed the crowds at SXSW called Twitter (believe it or not, I still have the issue and plan on framing it). It also taught me to ask for forgiveness as opposed to permission.
