DECEMBER 27, 2011 [Retail] A New Tablet Today
It retails new for $449 and Amazon sells it for 16% less. I waited for the Acer Iconia a500 tablet to arrive, and I unpacked it today. But I bought it much lower from eBay, being the winning bidder at $270 for a manufacturer-refurbished model. specifically chose this device because it runs the Android operating system, which is also active on my HTC smartphone. This is among the short list of tablets to be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming weeks. It’s installed with Honeycomb today. The next step will be to determine how and where to integrate the tablet into my life.

NOVEMBER 16, 2011 [Retail] Why the Kindle Fire is Not For Me
It isn’t a perfect experience, but if nothing else it’s a promising look into the future of retail commerce. I am typing this sentence on an iMac. I did not want a Kindle to replace the experience of reading tactile books when I wrote about it in February 2009. The majority of your comments agreed with me. Fast forward nearly three years and I still don’t want the thing. The Kindle Fire is not for me. Not yet. Engadget reviews the Kindle Fire with a concise conclusion: The Kindle Fire is quite an achievement at $200. That the Fire has. also own a smartphone. Not for me.
